Datuk Dr. Edward Ong

Datuk Dr. Edward Ong, Chairman of the Pelican Paradise Group, is an accomplished builder and property developer. Through his OCK group in Singapore, he completed numerous highly-acclaimed projects, including The Singapore General Hospital, civil engineering works in major MRT Stations (Orchard, Somerset, Tanjong Pagar), tunnelling works for the Central Expressway, as well as retail and commercial centres, and condominiums.

Datuk Ong expanded the business overseas in the 1990s, including major civil works in small island nations such as Saipan, Guam, and Rota. In the late ‘90s, Datuk Ong developed the iconic Sutera Harbour Resort in Sabah, Malaysia. That development was instrumental in making tourism a key sustainable economic pillar in Sabah, and it has received numerous awards, setting the standard for excellence in the tourism industry.

Datuk Ong further diversified his group of companies to include hotel operations and management. Sutera Sanctuary Lodges is a world-renowned hotel operator that specialises in managing UNESCO world heritage sites as well as other heritage sites in both Sabah and Timor Leste. These properties have also continuously set the benchmark for excellence, with Sutera Sanctuary Lodges in Sabah winning awards for the best luxury lodges.
